Hours

The Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum are open year round, seven (7) days per week with the exception of
      -- Thanksgiving Day,
      -- Christmas Day (December 25), 
             Note: The Zoo opens at 5:30pm Christmas Night for Christmas Lights Festival
      -- and New Years Day (January 1).

The Montgomery Zoo is open daily at 9am - 4pm. The last admission tickets are sold at 4pm daily. Major animal exhibits begin closing at 4:30pm daily. We ask everyone to exit the front gates by 5pm.

The Zoo Gift Shop is open daily 9am - 5pm daily. Shoppers not required purchase zoo admission in order to shop at the Zoo Gift Shop. All shoppers are welcome.

The Mann Wildlife Learning Museum is open daily 9am - 5pm. The last admission to the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum is at 4:30pm. We ask everyone to exit the Mann Museum by 5pm.

*DECEMBER HOURS: 9am - 4pm daily. Everyone must exit the park by 5pm, and the Zoo will re-open at 5:30pm for Christmas Lights Festival on nights that it applies. If you purchased the Early Bird combo (Zoo and Christmas Lights admission) you may remain in the park after 5pm.

Overlook Cafe concessions hours: The Overlook Cafe is open: 
     -- Monday - Friday, 10am - 4:30pm
     -- Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm. Grill open 10am-4pm daily.
     -- Playground refreshments kiosk open Saturday and Sunday 10:30am - 3:30pm.
     -- Playground refreshments kiosk, Months March - May weekdays 10am - 2pm.
     -- Hours during Christmas Lights Festival 11am - 9pm daily

  • ZooWeekend (Annual Spring Fundraising Event) -- 9am - 6pm
  • Zoobilation: Zoo closes at noon to prepare the night's event
  • Zoobilation (Late Summer / Fall Fundraising Event) -- 6pm - 10pm

Admission

Effective October 1, 2018, admission includes entry to both the Zoo and Mann Museum

  • Adults (13 years old or older): $17

  • Children (3 - 12 years of age): $13

  • Toddlers (2 years old or younger): FREE

  • Seniors (65 years old or older): $15

  • AAA and Military Adult: $16
    AAA and Military discounts must be redeemed on-site, not available for online purchases

  • AAA and Military Children: $12
    AAA and Military discounts must be redeemed on-site, not available for online purchases

  • Montgomery Zoo members: FREE
    All Montgomery Zoo adult members must present a photo ID to gain access to the Zoo/Museum using their membership. View Membership information.

Group and school group discounts are available, advanced reservations are required.


Montgomery Zoo Rides and Attractions

All rides and attractions are open daily 10am-4:30pm*, pending weather. Pedal boat rides are seasonal. Please call ahead prior to your visit for additional information: (334) 625-4900.

Petting Zoo: Entry is FREE with paid zoo admission. Animal feed, $2 per bag. Located at playground. Open daily, 10am-4:30pm (pending weather).

Lion Training Session: 1pm daily at the Lion display adjacent to the Black Bears and Alligator Habitat. Watch as keepers lead our two African lions through a series of target training exercises.

Elephant Keeper Talk and Q&A Session: 10:30am daily at the double-decker African elephant viewing station. Enjoy some interaction between one of our elephant keepers, followed by a Q&A sessions answering various questions about the Montgomery Zoo's three African elephants.

Parakeet Cove: Entry is FREE with paid zoo admission. Feed sticks are $2 per stick. Open daily, 10am-4:30pm

Giraffe Encounter Post: $3 per person, guests 2 years and younger are FREE. All guests entering the encounter must pay an admission fee. Open daily, 10am-4:30pm

Train Ride: $3 per person, riders 2 years and younger are FREE. Open daily, 9am-4:30pm

Zoofari Skylift Adventure Ride: December Christmas Lights Festival hours: 12pm (noon) to close. $5 per person. All riders must be at least 32 inches tall to ride with an adult. Riders must be at least 42 inches to ride alone. Open daily 10am - 4:30pm, pending weather conditions.

Stroller and Wheelchair Rentals

All stroller and wheelchair rentals are based on a first-come, first serve basis. Strollers and wheelchairs may not be reserved.

Wheelchair Rentals: The Montgomery Zoo is handicap accessible. In addition, wheelchairs are available for rental at the Zoofari Gift Shop. Manual Wheelchair rentals are $10 and Electric Wheelchairs (ECV) are $22. Weight limit: 325lbs.

Stroller Rentals: Stroller rentals are available at the Main Gate Gift Shop. Strollers are available on a first come, first serve basis. Single stroller rentals are $9 and double strollers are $11.

Rental Deposits: A $5 deposit is required for each rental. The deposit only will be returned once the stroller or wheelchair is returned to the Gift Shop.

Sensory Bags and Aids

The Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum is equipped with sensory bags filled headphones, fidget toys, and weighed lap pads for guests suffering with sensory processing disorders. These bags can be checked out FREE OF CHARGE at the Zoo's Main Admission Entry / Gift Shop and at the Mann Museum. Also, there are quiet zones and headphone zones located throughout the Zoo. Look for the signs. Our goal is to make the Zoo and Museum a friendlier place for those individuals suffering with Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD); such as Autism, PTSD, Parkinson's Disease, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and many others.

  • Sensory bags can be checked out at the Main Zoo Gift Shop and Mann Museum
  • There is NO CHARGE for the use.
  • We do ask that you provide a driver's license or government-issued ID as a deposit.
  • We also ask that you return the sensory bag with all its contents to the place you obtained it so others may use it in the future.

 

Zoo policies

Firearm and weapon policy: No firearms and/or weapons of any sort are allowed on City of Montgomery Zoo property. Signs are posted at each entrance.

NO SMOKING is allowed on City of Montgomery Zoo property; including inside the park or outside in the parking lots.

No plastic lids or straws, for the safety of the animals

No glass containers

No alcoholic beverages

No cooking devices 

No balloons of any sort, for the safety of the animals

No bicycles, tricycles, hover boards, skate boards, or scooters. 

IN/OUT Policy: Guests may exit the park and return. To gain re-entry to the Zoo, please keep your wristband secure on your wrist. Present to the Admission attendant to re-enter the Zoo. 

What you may bring into the Zoo:
