Exciting Shows Coming to the Planetarium

The W.A. Gayle Planetarium at Oak Park is excited to present an engaging lineup of shows. Visitors of all ages can experience breathtaking journeys through space and time with the following schedule.

Upcoming showings and schedule:

Saturday, November 22, 2025

• 10 am - Legends of the Night Sky:  Perseus & Andromeda (first view of a new show!) 

Show description:  This 18- to 20-minute show is a fun-filled retelling of the Greek myth where Princess Andromeda is sacrificed to a sea monster as punishment for her mother's boastful claims, and is ultimately rescued by the hero Perseus. Even though this is an animated feature, be aware some scenes might be intense for younger viewers.

• 11:30 am - From the Earth to the Universe
• 1 pm - Perseus & Andromeda
• 2:30 pm - From the Earth to the Universe

Saturday, November 29, 2025

• 10 am - The Alien Who Stole Christmas
• 11:30 am - Season of Light
• 1 pm - Legends of the Night Sky:  Perseus & Andromeda
• 2:30 pm - Visit with Santa Claus and take your own photos using your cell phone.  Enjoy Christmas visuals on the dome and experience snow in our 50 foot dome!  This is a FREE event to the first 40 people (must pick up a ticket at the gift shop counter 20 minutes before the 2:30 pm show).

Saturday, December 6, 2025

• The planetarium is planning to close from November 30, 2025 - December 6, 2025 due to a projected projector replacement project.  However, the actual dates for the replacement by the project coordinator are not yet confirmed so there is a possibility we will be open for shows on Saturday, December 6, 2025.  Contact the planetarium directly at 334-625-4799 for last minute schedule changes or follow us on Facebook at Gayle Planetarium for schedule change announcements.

Saturdays, December 13 and December 20, 2025

Showings are available for public walk-ins on Saturdays only.

Tuesday through Friday showtimes are reserved for group reservations. To schedule a group visit, please contact the planetarium directly.

Doors open 20 minutes before each show, allowing guests time to explore the planetarium and gift shop.

                -- Admission is $7.50 per person for ages 3 and up.
                -- Children under 3 years of age are admitted FREE.
