Montgomery Zoo maps go digital

In an effort to reduce paper use, save trees, and reduce litter on the Zoo grounds, we are going digital with our Zoo map. Simply scan the QR codes provided throughout the Zoo, and use your phone to navigate throughout the Zoo and Museum.

By going digital, this also allows to communicate more up-to-date animal, exhibit, and attraction information. It is a win-win for both our guests and the environment.

Plastic-free packaging and reduction of bags

Our Zoo Gift Shop has done a great job of reducing the amount of plastic that enters our nation's landfills daily.  If you have noticed, all the toy packages no longer have plastic. This a huge win for the environment and for animals throughout the world.

Also, our Gift Shop has stopped using plastic bags.  They have converted to no-bag policy; however, if you more than $30 guest receive a complimentary cloth bag sporting the Montgomery Zoo logo.

These are just a few and simple ways we are recycling, reducing, and repurposing items here at the Montgomery Zoo.

Give Dad an Adventure Instead of a Tie This Year

Post Date:June 15, 2018 5:41 PM
The Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum Gives Fathers Free Admission Sunday, June 17, 2018

Celebrate Dad and create lasting memories by spending quality time exploring the world and learning about the more than 500 species of animals that call the Montgomery Zoo home.

All dads will receive free admission to the Zoo and Wildlife Museum on Sunday, June 17, 2018. For a small additional cost, families can ride the train, Zoofari Skylift or take a pedal boat ride around Crystal Lake. You can also add some hands-on adventure to your visit by feeding the giraffes, parakeets, petting zoo animals and the stingrays for a small fee.

Families are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy time with family and friends at one of our shelters or grassy areas, we just ask that you do not bring anything with a straw or cups with plastic lids for the safety of the animals. Or let the Overlook Café do the cooking for you. Menu favorites include hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, wraps, salads and other snacks that can be enjoyed in the casual open-air dining area overlooking the Africa and North America realms of the zoo. Cool off on your way home by grabbing one of the River Region’s newest favorite treats, Frio’s Pops, on sale in the Main Gate Gift Shop.

Several of the Zoo’s largest animals will be featured during insightful keeper talks at the African Lion exhibit at 1:30 pm and the African Elephant exhibit at 2:30 pm.
