Animal Enrichment Day

JOIN US FOR THE MONTGOMERY ZOO’S ANIMAL ENRICHMENT DAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2012, 10:00am – 2:00pm.  Mark your calendar today to make plans to visit the Montgomery Zoo for an incredible day of wildlife adventure and fun.  Join us as we tour through the Zoo watching as the animals react to the various enrichment items given to them that day. 

You may ask, “What do you mean by enrichment items?”  We all need enrichment from time to time.  To figure out a new puzzle or that new fancy remote, taste an interesting or new food item, or even take in the aroma of an intriguing scent.  Enrichment is all about using our five senses in order to stimulate us, or in this case the animals, mentally and physically.  At Animal Enrichment Day, we give our animals new toys, new foods, puzzles to figure out and treats as rewards.  We, us humans, get to watch and see what happens.  And if goes well, we and the animals will enjoy a great day of enrichment.   

Animal Art sale.  See some unique, one-of-kind art pieces created by some of the animals right here at your Montgomery Zoo.  These make great accents to any home, office or children’s room.  They are great conversation pieces and all the proceeds from the sale go towards the animal enrichment items used for the animals.

MONTGOMERY ZOO INFO (DAYTIME ADMISSION INFO).  The Montgomery Zoo is open 9:00am – 5:30pm, 7 days per week. Admission tickets are no longer sold and major animal exhibits being closing at 4:30pm.  Combo admission to the Zoo and Mann Museum is: Adults $14, Children (3-12yrs) $10, Toddlers (2yrs and younger) FREE.  Zoo only admission is: Adults $10, Seniors (65 yrs and older) $9, Children (3-12yrs) $7, Toddlers (2yrs and younger) FREE.  Montgomery Zoo members are FREE.  Group and military discounts are available.  Train ride: $3 per person. Giraffe Encounter: $2 per person. Pedal Boats: $8 for the first person, $10 for two, $12 for three and $14 for four; maximum of four passengers per boat, 30 minute ride.
