In observation of Earth Day at the Montgomery Zoo, thousands of elementary-aged students visit the Zoo to learn about animal conservation, wildlife preservation and recycling. During this two-day event, Earth Day Safari attendees will visit various discovery stations located throughout the Zoo learning about the different animals in the five continental realms here at the Zoo.
Also as part of this event, students will visit with various Zookeepers. These Keeper Talks give students an opportunity to hear directly from the people that care for the animals on a daily basis. The students not only learn about the different animals in a general fashion, but they also learn about the specific traits and characteristics of animals here at the Zoo. They learn their names, ages, intelligence level, about their personalities, favorite foods, likes and dislikes, and what things make them unique. Students also have an opportunity to have a question and answer session with the Keepers.
These sessions truly give our guests a genuine insight on the animals that call the Montgomery Zoo home.
